Baptism Preparation
Baptism is the first of the seven sacraments and our initiation into the Christian community. We celebrate baptisms during Mass, when the community is present to welcome your child.
Getting Started
Contact the pastor at 780-986-3253 to arrange an initial meeting. Please bring your child’s birth certificate, and know your Godparents’ Confirmation date. Parents are also asked to attend a Baptism Preparation class.
Godparent Requirements
- At least one Godparent is required; if there are two, one must be of each gender.
- Godparents must be at least 16 years old.
- At least one Godparent must be a practicing Catholic who has received Eucharist and Confirmation.
- A second Godparent may be a baptized Christian of another denomination, serving as a Christian Witness.
- All Godparents are asked to attend the Baptism Preparation class.
Baptism for Children Over 7
Children over the age of 7 prepare for the sacraments of initiation through our RCIC program instead.
