Confirmation

Confirmation preparation is offered each year for children who have already completed First Communion and First Reconciliation, typically around age 11 or Grade 6.

Program Shape

The program begins with a parent information meeting, followed by classes on Wednesday evenings through the winter and spring, a full-day retreat, and a rehearsal before the Confirmation celebration.

Requirements

• Regular attendance at Sunday Mass, as an essential part of Catholic Christian life.
• Completion of 10 hours of community service.
• Participation in a Saturday retreat.
• A confirmed Sponsor, at least 16 years old, who is not a parent.
• A baptism certificate, if your child was not baptized at St. Michael Parish.

Parent Involvement

Parents are the primary teachers of the faith for their child. Sacramental preparation happens through the parish, not through school, so parents are asked to help with homework and to attend at least two of the classes with their child.
