First Reconciliation & First Communion
First Reconciliation and First Communion are prepared for together, typically for children who are a minimum of 7 years of age and at least in Grade 2. First Reconciliation is celebrated before First Communion.
Preparation for First Reconciliation begins in January with classes on Wednesdays at 5pm. First Communion preparation follows, also on Wednesday evenings, and leads up to a day retreat, rehearsal, and the First Communion celebration.
Requirements
- A minimum age of 7, and at least Grade 2.
- Baptism.
- Regular attendance at Sunday Mass.
Registration
To register your child, please attend the parent’s meeting. Bring a copy of your child’s baptism certificate (if not baptized at St. Michael’s), the completed registration form, and the $50 registration fee, which can be paid with cash or debit. If the cost will be prohibitive, please let the office know.
Parent Involvement
As with our other sacramental programs, parents are the primary teachers of the faith for their child, and while classes are at the parish, parents are asked to review class material at home with their child.
